Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you provide crisis or emergency services?
No, I do not provide crisis or emergency services. If you or someone you know is experiencing severe emotional distress or a suicidal crisis, Call 911 or the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1.800.273.TALK (8255) now.

2. Do you offer in-person sessions?

No. All sessions are held online through Doxy.me, a HIPAA compliant video conferencing site.

3. How does online therapy work?

Online therapy is face-to-face contact through a computer, phone or tablet. Before becoming a client there is 15-minute screening conducted via phone to determine if this is a good fit. Once you become a client you will receive a link from Doxy to enter a virtual, HIPAA compliant wait room at the time of the appointment. Sessions are confidential. In order to avoid interruptions during the session, it is important to ensure that you have a reliable internet connection and that you have a comfortable and private space where you feel safe to share. Make yourself comfortable but remember that therapy is still a social encounter so dress for the occasion (casual and neat attire). Sitting is preferrable to avoid distractions and to be present to attend to your thoughts and feelings.

As clients must reside in the same state where the therapist is licensed, I can only see clients located in Florida, Massachusetts, or New York.

4. How long until I start feeling better?

Recent studies suggest that a great percentage of clients start to see beneficial results from therapy in 12-16 sessions; however, progress through therapy is unique to every individual and can depend on the severity of their presenting concern, motivation for treatment, co-occurring conditions, treatment modality, as well as other personal and therapeutic factors. Expectations about treatment can be further discussed during the initial consultation.

5. What about if I need medication?
Although I do not prescribe medication as a clinical psychologist, I can coordinate treatment and provide referrals in your community if needed.

6. What if I can’t make it to a scheduled appointment?

You are allowed to cancel with at least 24 hours notice. Late cancellations result in late fees.

7. Do you offer group therapy?

Group therapy is an effective way to treat different issues or conditions that might bring you to therapy. Exploring your emotions in a safe and cohesive space can help you gain support and insight into your problems. It can also help you develop social skills, get valuable feedback, and help you explore and try new behavior that you can then apply to your day to day.

Groups that become available will be advertised in this webpage.

8. What if you don’t accept my insurance?
Please click here to learn about the insurances I accept. While I accept some health insurance, there are advantages and reasons why you may prefer to pay out of pocket, such as: retaining your privacy, avoiding formal diagnoses in your medical record, and not limiting the number of sessions you can get.

If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide printed invoices and superbills that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

9. What are your fees?
Free 15-minute phone consultation

$200- 45 minutes individual session

10. What is the Good Faith Estimate?

If you don’t have insurance or plan to pay out-of-pocket, your provider must estimate the expected charges for services. You can dispute the bill if it is at least $400 over the estimate provided at the time of scheduling an appointment. You can read more about the “Good Faith Estimate” following this link: No Surprises Act | CMS
